The difference between dating sites and match sites
While you will often see the terms “dating site” and “match site” (along with their variations) used interchangeably there actually is a difference.
Regular dating sites are those that are basically nothing more than online personals where anyone can come and list their personal details and be contacted by those interested in them, and where they can contact those they think would be a good fit for them.
Match sites on the other hand are a different breed of dating online. These sites have their members fill out questionnaires to find out what they are looking for in a partner and what they have to offer. These ask questions about likes and dislikes, hobbies, the singles faith, whether they want to have children, what kind of relationship they are looking for and so on. They then compare the personality tests and match you with others who they feel you would have a lot in common with and with whom you can enjoy a mutually joyful relationship.
It is important to note however, that almost all sites that have the personal questionnaires also let you browse freely. So it is kind of like getting the best of both worlds.
It’s a matter of personal preference, if you don’t want to bother filling out any kind of personality test and you want to do all the searching yourself, great, if you want a little help that’s great too. That’s part of what makes online dating so fun and successful, there is something for everyone within the wide expanse of dating sites available on the internet.
